چکیده

We present infrared and radio continuum observations of S 201 star forming region. A massive star cluster is observed in this region, which contains different classes of young stellar objects. The near-infrared colour-colour and colour-magnitude diagrams are studied to discuss the nature of these sources. We have discovered the knots of molecular hydrogen emission at 2.122 µm in the central region of S 201. These knots are clearly seen along the diffuse emission in north–west direction which are probably the obscured Herbig-Haro objects. High sensitivity and high resolution radio continuum images from GMRT observations at 610 and 1280 MHz show an interesting arc-shaped structure due to the interaction between the HII region and the adjacent molecular cloud. The ionization front at the interface between the HII region and the molecular cloud is clearly seen by comparing the radio, molecular hydrogen and Brγ images. The emission from the carriers of Unidentified Infrared Bands in the mid-infrared 6–9 µm (possibly due to PAHs) as extracted from the Midcourse Space Experiment survey (at 8, 12, 14 and 21 µm) is compared with the radio emission. The HIRES processed IRAS maps at 12, 25, 60, and 100 µm, have also been used for comparison. The spatial distribution of the temperature and the optical depth of the warm dust component around S 201 region, has been generated from the mid-infrared images.

Spectral classification of emission-line galaxies from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey I. An improved classification for high redshift galaxies

Aims. We study the spectral classification of emission-line galaxies as star-forming galaxies or Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs). From the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) high quality data, we define an improved classification to be used for high redshift galaxies Methods. We classify emission-line galaxies of the SDSS according to the latest standard recipe using [OIII]λ5007, [NII]λ6584, [SII]λ6...

From Massive Protostars to a Giant H Ii Region: Submillimeter Imaging of the Galactic Mini-starburst W43

We have carried out a submillimeter continuum and spectroscopic study of the W43 main complex, a massive star-forming region, which harbors a giant H ii region. The maps reveal a filamentary structure containing ∼ 50 fragments with masses of 40− 4 000 M⊙ and typical diameters of 0.25 pc. Their large sizes, large non-thermal velocities (∆v ∼ 5 km s), and high densities (nH2 ∼ 10 6 cm) suggest th...

The Hii Region Kr 140: Spontaneous Formation of a High Mass Star

We have used a multiwavelength data set from the Canadian Galactic Plane Survey (CGPS) to study the Galactic HII region KR 140, both on the scale of the nebula itself and in the context of the star forming activity in the nearby W3/W4/W5 complex of molecular clouds and HII regions. From both radio and infrared data we have found a covering factor of about 0.5 for KR 140 and we interpret the neb...

Study of young stellar objects and associated filamentary structures in the inner Galaxy

Young stellar objects in the inner Galactic region 10◦ < l < 15◦ and −1◦ < b < 1◦ were studied using GLIMPSE images and the GLIMPSE data catalogue. A total of 1107 Class I and 1566 Class II sources were identified in this Galactic region. With the help of GLIMPSE 5.8and 8-μm images, we identified the presence of 10 major star forming sites in the Galactic midplane, 8 of which are filamentary wh...

Astrometry of Galactic Star-Forming Region G48.61+0.02 with VERA

We performed the astrometry of H2O masers in the Galactic star-forming region G48.61 + 0.02 with the VLBI Exploration of Radio Astrometry (VERA). We derived a trigonometric parallax of 199 ± 7 μas, which corresponds to a distance of 5.03 ± 0.19 kpc. The distance to G48.61 + 0.02 is about a half of its far kinematic distance, which was often assumed previously. This distance places G48.61 + 0.02...
